GUTGAA Meet and Greet

Hola People,

September has brought upon us a slew of interesting events and contests. You probably already know about GUTGAA ( Gearing Up to Get an Agent) hosted by Deanna Barnhart from the cute little badge on the right. If you don't well just click on the badge and sign up! It's going to be loads of fun - Meet and Greet, Pitch Polish, Agent Pitch Contest and Small Press Pitch Contest. Whew!

Secondly, Pitch Madness held by a combination of four blogs, is an awesome agent-judged pitch contest. There's only one submission window left. So, jump in people and get your entries in!

The third is the Come and Get it! hosted by the awesome Cupid. It requires a wee $4 donation to enter but that's a small price to pay for getting in front of agents.

So onto the Meet and Greet part for GUTGAA, where I shrug of my cloak of invisibility and make myself known to all.

I am a lawyer from the not-so-mystical-anymore land of India, who loves writing, reading, playing sports, cooking, star-gazing...wait, let's just stick with reading and writing and all things non-lawyerly. And no, that's not because I'm a bad lawyer. Who wants to read 300 pages of contracts when there;s 300 pages of awesome stories with flashy characters, epic worlds and kickass twists.

So, if you guys so like, follow this blog via the links on the right side and on twitter also via buttons on the right side. You can also follow my awesome co-blogger Brighton who's away shooting a movie. Yeah, he's a movie producer. *Shrugs*. I have cool friends. And please leave your blog link in the comments, so that I can follow you back, if I already haven't.

Now for the questions of Meet and Greet.

Where do you write?

Mostly on my bed, lying down with the laptop balanced delicately on my legs, while I type away to glory.

Quick. Go to your writing space, sit down and look to your left. What is the first thing you see?
A pale orange wall. I need to get a new coat of paint. Yuck! Suggest me some colours people.

Favorite time to write?
Any and all the time as long as I have an idea, the mood and am not distracted by a TV, other websites or simply by the visions of grandeur of my stories.

What was your inspiration for your latest manuscript and where did you find it?
Currently, I am working on an Untitled High Fantasy. The basic plot comes from the thought - Wait we've never read about the rise of a civilisation when magic appears for the first time. And I'm trying to summon my inner Tolkein and Jordan to write it.
What's your most valuable writing tip?

I'm the one gathering the tips. So choose your pick.  I'd say write your heart out and then in the company of awesome co-authors make it even more legendary.

So, welcome to the world of Pineapple Lightning and keep visiting. We have a few tangy author interviews lined up.

Cheers,
Utsav

  2. So good to see you entered as well :) I wish you the best of luck. As for colours on your wall...a nice taupe, or if feeling really adventurous..go for Caribbean blue...

  3. The wall next to my desk is orange too and I'm starting to dislike it so much that I'm thinking I'll go for the colorwheel opposite of purple. I like the name and concept of your blog. Good luck with GUTGAA!

  4. Nice to *meet* you! Anyone who's attempting to harness their inner Jordan is a kindred spirit. :)

  5. I love me some BLUE! However, blue walls are said to be an appetite suppressant, and is that really what writers so deep in their stories that they're already forgetting about mealtimes need? Maybe you'd be better off with a subtle green.

  6. Hi, I'm dropping in from GUTGAA. Nice to read you. You have a hilarious voice. The wall can remain orange, just hang a painting with lots of blue in it (since blue is the compliment of orange.)
